April Lockhart

April Lockhart, born in 1995 on the 4th day of July, started taking guitar and piano lessons at seven years old. The passion for songwriting was awakened. April Lockhart wrote her first single, Different at the age twelve years old. When she was 14 April spent a lot of her day singing and writing songs. She began writing along with her dad in NY and LA soon after. April also began to include different topics related to some of her classmates who struggle with such things as social pressure and teens who commit suicide through the songs"Take" my Hand. Lockhart is an influencer in the beauty and lifestyle industry with a growing number of followers. She works with popular brand Ilia in partnership, in addition to being a specialist in lifestyle. She has a disability that is a component of her identity, but it is not the whole image. Lockhart's profile on Twitter doesn't shy away from the fact that she is disabled however, it doesn't make a point of it. What message is it trying to convey? The message is: We all have many identities, we're more complex than we think we are. Lockhart has stated on video that she does not want to be defined solely by her disability. She does not want to become a disability advocate who only speaks about it. There are a variety of aspects to Lockhart. And it doesn't affect my everyday life. I go about every day as normal and have found my own way to adjust things. This is a major aspect of my existence, therefore it's important that we talk about the subject. Lockhart encourages us to keep going with self-acceptance. Yet, she confesses that she has had periods when she felt uncomfortable with her appearance, and the clothes that showed her arms. Nowadays, she can wear whatever she'd like. And she posts her photos on social networks. The self-love she talks about is a process. It's not clear whether you'll get to the point of no return. It's a long journey. I don't think you ever get there. It's important to surround yourself with people who can really know the person you are.
